Sterling Bay, one of the hottest investment/redevelopment firms in Chicago, wanted a unique, employee-centered space for its office headquarters in the heart of Chicago’s meatpacking district. Working in collaboration with Sterling Bay’s in-house design team; eaa helped  create a loft-style layout with a mix of offices, open workstations and collaborative spaces. The big story is in the extras: a full service kitchen, a gym, and a large break room with skylights, television sets and a flexible layout to allow for yoga classes and more. Reclaimed wood and steel support bands from a deconstructed water tower, as well as Terracotta panels and various other reclaimed objects, from other Sterling Bay buildings, were integrated into the design and are showcased throughout the space.

I think eaa did a solid job building the drawing set and translating my sketches. I appreciated some unsolicited contribution to the finishes. It just shows that your team was engaged in the project and thinking to improve it beyond the base deliverable.
